Everything I learned has been picked up through Googling and talking to other experts in the industry who\u2019ve been gracious with their time and advice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Luhhu is not my first business &#8211; that was a lead generation business for language teachers called Teacher Finder (still active today!) &#8211; and it was then that I learned about the importance of search intent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People weren\u2019t going to search Google for my company name &#8211; we&#8217;re an unknown after all &#8211; but they would search for a \u201c<em>French teacher in Paris<\/em>\u201d. So I built targeted landing pages and organised content around these terms. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It worked and we quickly found ourselves in the top 3 of the SERPs for our key markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-luhhu-s-strategy-helping-people-automate\"><strong>Luhhu\u2019s strategy = helping people automate<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When starting to build Luhhu, I knew the key was the same. No one is searching for Luhhu, and my keyword research even showed that people weren\u2019t just searching for a \u201c<em>Zapier expert<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rather, most Zapier-related search traffic relates to the apps people are trying to connect it to &#8211; Pipedrive, Facebook, Hubspot etc. And this makes sense considering the SEO strategy Zapier <a href=\"https:\/\/ryanberg.co\/how-zapier-reached-35m-arr-with-this-saas-seo-strategy\/\">themselves followed<\/a> to drive their early growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, using Ahrefs I found all the \u2018Zapier + [app]\u2019 keyword combos with at least 50+ monthly traffic and set about writing content to match.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image border-image-nospace\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"538\" height=\"309\" src=\"https:\/\/seobuddy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/keyword-research-for-luhhu.png\" alt=\"Spreadsheet of the Keyword Research process for Luhhu.com\" class=\"wp-image-2857\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seobuddy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/keyword-research-for-luhhu.png 538w, https:\/\/seobuddy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/keyword-research-for-luhhu-300x172.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 538px) 100vw, 538px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The result is thoroughly unsexy content like \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.luhhu.com\/blog\/how-to-zapier-and-contact-form-7\">How to get started with Zapier and Contact Form 7<\/a>\u201d, that ranks well and has delivered new clients that would rather just pay an expert than follow a guide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image border-image-nospace\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"725\" height=\"509\" src=\"https:\/\/seobuddy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/serp-for-zapier-contact-form.png\" alt=\"SERP for &quot;zapier contact form 7&quot; (Source: Google)\" class=\"wp-image-2858\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seobuddy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/serp-for-zapier-contact-form.png 725w, https:\/\/seobuddy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/serp-for-zapier-contact-form-300x211.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 725px) 100vw, 725px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-content-for-curious-minds\"><strong>Content for curious minds<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>People ask questions about Zapier as well &#8211; and Ahrefs was able to help me dig out a few common ones to create some content around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the most fun was \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.luhhu.com\/blog\/how-do-you-pronounce-zapier\">How to pronounce Zapier?<\/a>\u201d which took less than 5 minutes to write and gave me the chance to drop a little historical nugget about Zapier\u2019s origin story which I learned from an AMA. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It sends a few dozen visitors a month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another added bonus here is that this question pops up at least once a month on Twitter, and I now have a ready to go reply and an easy way to tempt another potential customer to look around Luhhu\u2019s website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-backlinking-the-hard-way\"><strong>Backlinking the hard way<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve read a ton about different backlinking strategies, most coming at it from the angle of trying to hack your way to scale &#8211; mostly through shady, spammy methods with little guarantee of success (and every guarantee of pissing people off).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So I decided to go at things the old fashioned way &#8211; emailing people and asking to guest post or publish interviews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When starting out I stuck with #nocode blogs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Being a rather new industry, most publications are eager for easy content. I also found a lot of success contacting the marketing teams of the various apps that integrate with Zapier and offering to write them a how-to piece they can leverage to their customers &#8211; like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.akkio.com\/post\/zapier-expert-walkthrough-of-an-akkio-integration-by-luhhu\">this one<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the two years I\u2019ve spent actively pursuing this strategy, it has generated 70+ links, from sites with between 20 to 90 DR, including on the Zapier website itself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s now getting easier, as I get into the flow of pitching and turning around good posts &#8211; even getting invited to write by companies that have seen my existing content (like this blog for example!)<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"pb-block-wrap pb-block-1 promotion-banner\">\r\n\t\t\t<div class=\"title\">Do you want hundreds of easy-to-get backlinks?<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"text\"><p>The Link Chest is a collection of high-quality, easy-to-win backlink opportunities. Link Chest is an essential tool for early stage link building.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\r\n                \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"like-amount\">3<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t    <\/div>\r\n  <\/div>\r\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-getting-creative\"><strong>Getting creative<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I always like to grow by experimenting &#8211; and as I continue to write focussed content and building links, I\u2019m working on a few other projects to try and move the needle on growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.automatenow.xyz\/\">AutomateNow<\/a> a platform I\u2019m setting up to \u2018rival\u2019 the likes of Upwork and Fiverr and be an alternative to the partner programs that apps like Zapier run themselves. The idea is to band together with other freelancers and agencies working in the automation industry and provide a platform for customers to find us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While it might seem a bit bonkers to spend resources promoting my competitors I\u2019ve come to realise that there is more than enough work to go around, and I\u2019m gambling on the fact that SEO and marketing for a broad platform will be easier than for just my agency and that Luhhu will benefit from being part of the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alongside this, I\u2019m looking at ways to speed up the curation and publishing of new content. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve recently discovered the wonders of Notion, and have been using it internally to build automation \u2018cheat sheets\u2019 around various topics that I can refer to when working on projects or send to clients for their benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tools like <a href=\"https:\/\/super.so\/\">Super<\/a> have emerged that allow you to publish Notion boards as websites &#8211; which I\u2019ve started testing with some \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/os.luhhu.com\/zapier-guide\">get started<\/a>\u2019 content I\u2019ve created for Zapier. Practically, I like how smooth it is to write, format and edit content in Notion &#8211; making it easier to keep it evergreen &#8211; and from an SEO perspective the pages load fast and tick all the core vitals boxes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-s-your-seo-tech-stack\">What&#8217;s your SEO Tech Stack?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I keep it simple, with most of my research and analysis happening inside Ahrefs and Google Console, and any planning happening in Google Sheets &#8211; where I like the flexibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-any-challenges-you-re-still-facing-today-in-your-seo-journey\"><strong>Any challenges you&#8217;re still facing today in your SEO Journey?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Knowing which keywords to target with my limited time and resources is still something I struggle with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I know there are merits to both approaches &#8211;
